I went for a routine mammogram in Nanaimo in September 1998. I was called for an urgent follow up a week later. Within three weeks I had two surgeries. With chemotherapy and radiation, my road to recovery was a long one. Today I live an active life; I have a full-time job, cherish my family, my grandchildren, my friends. I belong to a breast cancer survivor’s dragon boat team – our name is Hope Afloat Canada.
